Vincentian de Marillac recently achieved a zero-deficiency rating on the annual state survey conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Human Services (DOH) earlier this month. This means that Vincentian de Marillac is in total compliance with the rules and regulations that govern senior care facilities set by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding the care to residents, services provided and overall environment.
Receiving a zero-deficiency rating is a distinction that only a few communities achieve (less than 5% of all nursing homes). It’s a key measure of the differentiated quality of care Vincentian provides, which is one of Vincentian’s overarching goals. Each month we measure and share our STAR ratings, always striving to achieve 5-STARs.
The state makes unannounced visits to communities like ours annually to ensure all state and federal standards are being met. During the surprise visit, the surveyors reviewed paperwork, protocols, and procedures, and examined the overall daily operations. The survey process also includes interviews with residents, residents’ family members, and Vincentian employees. They found no problems or issues that did not meet the standards.
“Because of the rigorous standards and regulations we’re held to in skilled nursing facilities, to receive zero deficiencies during an annual survey is remarkable in ‘normal’ times,’” said Hillary Butts, Administrator of Vincentian de Marillac. “To accomplish this is the midst of a pandemic is extraordinary, and a testament to the skill and commitment of our team at Vincentian de Marillac. I could not be prouder, or more grateful, to work with such outstanding people who truly care about our residents and our mission.”
This follows successful surveys at Vincentian Home and Vincentian Marian Manor, a fantastic demonstration of commitment to quality as we strive to achieve our 5-Star ratings!
